Ph.D. candidate in Civil Engineering at CONSTRUCT-LFC – Laboratory of Building Physics of Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal, since September 2017, with a FCT scholarship founded by the ECOCORE (Eco-Construction and Rehabilitation) programme, with the co-supervision of CERIS/IST, University of Lisbon.

Catarina Sofia Ribeiro holds a master’s degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP).

Her Ph.D. research focuses on the impacts of the design of balconies in the indoor environmental conditions and in the inhabitant’s perceptions of dwellings. Exploring a specific context of the north of Portugal, her holistic research intends to investigate the correlations between the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) factors influenced by balconies and discuss the present relevance of the disctint balcony spaces in housing buildings.
