Full Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment (DECivil) of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, and research member at the CERIS Research Unit, Civil Engineering Research, and Innovation for Sustainability. Civil Engineer, since 1996, MSc (2002), and Civil Engineering PhD (2009).

Her main research interests involve innovative and sustainable coatings from performance to durability, and include pathology and in-situ testing, maintenance, and retrofitting.

In 2020, she created the PERCOAT group to boost research and dissemination of the performance and durability of conventional, innovative, and sustainable coatings solutions during the lifetime of buildings.
