Field inspections are carried out to observe the defects and collect on-site data. Visual assessment is supported by expert-systems. In some cases, non-destructive in-situ testing is applied and, if necessary, semi-destructive testing or samples are collected to be tested at the lab. The reliability of the diagnosis increases with the combination of different approaches and with the expertise knowledge of PERCOAT members in building pathology.
